This here's a HDR shot!
HDR photos of people are reeaaaallly hard to do, also because you have to spend a very long time post processing it :( (this one took over 1 hour lol)
buuuut i think it was worth it!
This was my first photoshoot with Natalie. I used her again later for a more natural shoot.... and I'm going to use her again for a really extreme shoot I have in mind!

I'm feeling very exclamation marky today
Is that even a mood?

The entire thing looks just great!

And exclamation marky can definitely be a mood.

The saturation in this is really nice--how the tones developed turned out great! You have such a knack for photography...you really know how to fill a shot and use every aspect of it to your advantage.

<3

It must be a mood because I am always exclamation marky! I love this and she is GORGEOUS! I love the shades of red and brown and the framing of the buildings. God, I adore your photography! icon icon

It's not photoshopped?! really?! What is HDR?

I have NO idea how you did this, but it is AWESOME... icon

haha~ that can be a new mood term ;D <3 exclamation marky! out of the photos you've submitted here (that i've seen anyway XD), i think this is my favorite!

what's HDR, by the way? @_@ i'm curious~ such a newbie in photography ^^;

  • Reyn May 24, 2008, 3:28 am

What's an HDR shot?

oh geez, this is beautiful! The setting is wonderful and rustic urban and yet, the eye is drawn immediately to the model. She's gorgeous ^_^

  • OQM May 28, 2008, 9:12 pm

This is just fantastic! Your photography is truly beautiful beethy!

Holy crap, this is just amazing. I'd say it was definitely worth the hour wait. o_o ... I really just don't know what else to say besides wow. This almost doesn't look like a photograph.

I love the composition of this and the angle. I think I could spend an hour looking at this and still not be tired of it.

And yes, I'd say exclamation marky is definitely a mood. ^_^!!

doooooooood. you are an amazing photographer beethy *A*! I don't know what HDR is...but it looks incredible! seriously surreal. it has this interesting feeling that I can't quite pin down, but really, awesome shot!

I went to an anime convention back in 07 and this naruto cosplay group wanted their photos taken.
This was my favorite shot of the bunch
As I love the Naruto manga and Sasuke the most, I tried to take a gloomy shot of Sasuke to reflect his troubled past
The cosplayer was actually a girl who looked really awesome!

I can see why this is your favourite shot! It's very striking and even though you can't see her face she does look amazing. I like how the shadow is red rather than black, maybe indicating Sasuke's violent life!

  • myvan May 18, 2008, 11:05 pm

=_= I just keep on getting the impression that soon, this picture will go The Shining!mode and blood will start oozing out from the shadow..

wonderful photo! i love how defined the shadow turned out!

oooh I love it!! The shadow is PERFECT (which is an odd thing to say but there ya go XD) and I'm a little in love with the wrappings on his arm <333

I really like this shot a lot. The shadow really is great in this, and I love the way the sidewalk[?] plays into it. Wonderful shot!

ah~ such a nice shot! i'd love to see the picture of the actual cosplayer *3* <3

I borrowed this 7k lens from Canon... and man it was heavy and hard to use.
This guy was sitting really really far away from me, you couldn't see him with your own eyes.
I noticed him as I was spying on stuff around me, hahaha

Was really lucky nobody else was home but him:]

awesome shot! great composition!

Gohd I always wanted to do that, but that equipment is pretty expensive, right?
Ace shot, and with the red t-shirt, too! Lucky.

I am so excited at your photographs! This so satisfying with the pattern of it and just one man sat there! It would make a great print.

  • Adi May 17, 2008, 10:06 pm

I agree with BK it would fantastic as a print icon

and it's so much fun playing spot the difference XD

  • Reyn May 18, 2008, 3:35 am

Wow. That's a really amazing shot!

  • Ami May 18, 2008, 1:46 pm

Heh, this is really cool picture!!
The redness of his shirt really stands out ... I really like the composition.
This looked like you set it up, but it's really neat that you just found him like this and captured it beautifully with your skills.
It makes me want to go sit with him, hahaha.
Awesome.

  • N3L May 20, 2008, 4:37 pm

Ooooooh. Very nice! icon

  • Loika May 21, 2008, 6:21 pm

This is awfully poetic, aaah. Perfectly captured. I love the different placements of the chairs/tables and reflections on the glass. *A*

hahah again, love the contrast of the guy's shirt on the seemingly dark and lonesome atmosphere XD.

I'll start to put my personal favorites of the last few months here.
Not to flood this place I'll limit it to 1 per day for now!
Starting with one Ochiba liked.

If any of you have any photography or photoshop(post processing) related questions, shoot! I'm your guy :]

This photo was shot at a junkyard. I like dirty places :/

The perspective on this is amazing! I really admire the whole layout and, plus, you've made it look effortless. Love her facial expression too! It makes me think of those long shots of women in 1950s kitchens for adverts, only all twisted round because where everything there was clean and sterile and souless, your version is real. Am impressed! I love photography, am so glad you are posting some so that I can dribble on it!

i love this :D! great location, great attitude!

  • Adi May 16, 2008, 10:02 pm

that is just so... cool... icon *love-struck teenager*

This is fantastic! I love the look to it. I'm very amateur at photography, but I'm trying to get better. I'd ask you questions, but I don't even know where to start! :P

  • Ruina May 18, 2008, 8:54 am

Just want to say that the checkered tiles go perfectly with everything. XD

  • Chiri May 18, 2008, 6:07 pm

Nothing beats a natural set-up! =D

I can't stop staring at the floor.. xD

whoa! this is so friggin sweet! hahah~ sadly, my room looks even messier and dirty than this lolol. love how everything's so saturated, except for what little color the woman has haha

A power of butterfly must be
The aptitude to fly,
Meadows of majesty concedes
And easy sweeps of sky.

- Emily Dickinson

I photographed some over the summer ... mostly flowers. Easy subjects, they stand still (most of the time).

Come to Montreal. I bring you to garden with LOTS of butterflies D:!!! Wow... is this a digital zoom and did you actually get that close to the butterfly?

  • lychi Sep 16, 2007, 12:31 am

I really like the atmosphere coming off of this. Not quite sure what it is, but anyway. I like the blurry effect of it as well. Nice shot!

wow very pretty :D, for some reason i thought this was painted until i saw what you uses heh, its an awesome shot, i agree with lychi, i like the blurriness of it :D!

  • OQM Oct 15, 2007, 8:24 pm

The lack of color really emphasizes the form and pattern of the butterflies wings. Its really cool to see some of your photography Marathiel!

wonderful macro shot
what lens do you use again mara?

My first shot at street photography. It's hard! This was probably the best shot that came out of it.
I really like that womans smile, and the way the world reflects behind her. I'm thinking I should do more of this stuff.

Wow, those reflections are really neat. I haven't seen much of this kind of photography, but I bet it is really hard to get something that looks like art and not like a random tourist snapshot XD.

  • Nachi Apr 06, 2007, 1:12 pm

do more yes *_*

  • myvan Apr 07, 2007, 12:57 pm

You know what she reminds me of? Of a French actress in one of those 'films de moeurs' or something.. she's got THAT look! THAT smile. THAT pose.

Lole at Swedish people eating at McDonalds.

  • lmc Apr 07, 2007, 11:26 pm

I love how everyone else is preoccupied with food while she's just staring out into space, as if secretly enjoying something that no one else can see. 8D

*Lawls with Muskrat about the Swedish people @ McDonald's bit*

woah, for some reason I really like this. It looks like one of those adds in the news papers but the colors are lighter and nicer. So many expressions! nice. =3

I would be so freaked out if someone was snappin me at a fast food place, would think it was the cops or something xD
She does have a nice smile :)

This is very classical like.

Ohh I think this looks really amazing! It almost looks surreal, I love how the scape is reflected ♥

* o * there's even wind to add to the dramatic pose, lol.

and yes, a pretty wall lol. it must really look pretty cool if it's lengthy.

Just another brick in the waaaaaaaalllllllll!!!
Yeah, that is a nice wall. Also a nice shot, good sense of movement. And you made nice with the colours, aswell. :O

  • myvan Feb 18, 2007, 11:27 am

Now the question is, should it be "Lucky you!" or "Lucky her!"? :'D So glam.

she is s pretty and punkish, I love her style. Big sun glasses don't look good on just everyone, but she pulls them off well..and that wall is awesome, mou we don't have walls built like that really here.

I think your girlfriend should be a model. I'm probably going to end up drawing her one of these days...so watch out!

It snowed in England today. More specifically, it snowed in London. It never snows here. Maybe one single day a year. And when it snows I have to make a snowman.

My mom made the one on the left- it's Buddha. I did the one on the right. It's about 2 metres tall and started as a traditional 3 tier snowman. People kept driving up taking pictures and saying nice things. By the end the snow was getting all wet and slushy but it's nighttime now and they're still standing up. (I bet they're the biggest snowmen in London too)

You're a genius XD.

Seriously, this is brilliant!

  • myvan Feb 08, 2007, 6:47 pm

Really? I've always had an image of "Snowy London" in my mind for as long as I can remember *_* Ah, guess there's artistic blood in the family huh :) I haven't even seen snowmen like these in Canada!

Oh wow. Those are some of the bestest snowmen ever!
(And your mother is so very talented, I now see that the blood does run in the family.)

(On a side technical note, how did she get the arm to extend out?)

(Canada has the driest dusty snow ever. No snowmen for me.)

The snow was like plasticine. It was as perfect as first snow can be.

@hehe: She just stuck it on, believe it or not. I suggested she use a stick inside as a support but it's evening on the second day and it's still there, the arm.

  • Ada Feb 09, 2007, 9:30 am

Woaaaah, those are the most awesome snowmen I've ever seen! It's amazing how you and your mother could carve all the details and features into them, especially with the faces, and on yours, the folds in the clothing. Amazing!

Oh wow. Such amazingly durable and moldable snow!

(*still drooling over the snowmen.*)

  • beethy Feb 12, 2007, 10:43 pm

lol omg i love this!

WOW, so your family are artists? These are amazing.

Hahaha that's awesome stuff ♥! What detailed snowmen!
It didn't know in my end of England this time of the year ;__;

Thats amazing!

A tragic tale of yearning and fate. An impossible romance: two hearts forever separate. *cue violin solo* X'D *snifflesnot*

quite a view going up.

Romeo will have one heck of a climb. I hope no one pulls the fire alarm.

  • myvan Jan 24, 2007, 11:29 pm

Ooh this place looks nice? I'm gonna have to wander around when I get the chance to nerd around San Jose again! Hmm.. this reminds me of a more ghettoized version of the already modern R&J movie with uhh, the black Mercutio in it XD

  • Jae Jan 25, 2007, 12:39 am

This shot kind of reminds me of mid-town Manhattan. I especially like the lamp post. As for the text, it's neither here nor there. If you had expanded more on the graphic elements of the pic it could have been really nifty. :)

Oh my, the text is a little distracting to me, it almost looks like an advertisement! :] Cute though cute!!!!

That is just awsome!
I love the angle and the view you get of the building, the text is a really good idea, i gives this a story, instead of just being a great shot of a building it's a great shot of a building coupled wiht a strory most people know.
