hmm! strangely this didn't originally post to the oekaki section, so i manually had to reupload T3T; tis a pity since i finally used animated shipainter to show off the process T3T;

anyhoo, i was working on the first incarnation of this oekaki for two hours when my computer shut off suddenly, making it the second oekaki i lost today. but i says to myself, i says: i'll be damned if i don't get to post an oekaki today after all my efforts! so, very begrudgingly, i redid the whole thing. i feel like her face was a lot better in the first version, but alas! we will never know.
MORAL Of the story:
always screencap haha. ;__; my fingers hurt, it's been soooooooo long since i last did an oekaki... ;__;

This is really nice :) The coloring and everything. The only thing that distracts me is her nose. I think the rest of the picture is pretty realistic and then there's an extremly anime-nose.
I love her lips :) The coloring is great

OMG ITS MY LATEST OBSESSION TOO i watched asmany eps as i could in a day, i finished while ago but i still loved it and herr :O <3

I watched a little blood+, but it was too bloody for me XD.

I like your version of Saya though, especially how you painted her lips.

Haven't seen your oekaki for a while!! <3 Lovely colours, as always, and love the pose. I especially like the blue rose+pedals.. they give it a nice dramatic touch to the picture. ((:

  • Ruina Jul 14, 2008, 4:22 pm

I love the lower lip, and her hands too much. And sorry that you had to go through all that to get your work done!

whooo, I love the colors and the composition! it's like a wealth of petals engulfing her, mm. the strokes are always so distinct in your work chupa :) and the blue rose provides a very nice accent. plus her lips are super luscious <3 so nice to see from you again chupa~~ post more!

I like the red roses a lot, the style is so nice :) The hand is well done, too.

  • tekh Jul 15, 2008, 2:16 pm

you got persistence. nice unblended painted look here. considering she's in such a beautiful, dreamy place right now, this lady looks rather sad.

Sorry to hear about you losing the first version of this, but I think this one out turned out brilliant! It's neat that you have cyan roses lying in a bed of red ones. Your painterly technique is as always, beautifully executed. icon

I'm glad you were able to come back and make another attempt. The blue against the red is so lovely here!

  • myvan Jul 18, 2008, 1:53 pm

You + the word anyhoo + oekaki = faboo in my world!

What can I say? The fading blood red colour on her bottom lip, how the hand is placed.. the way you sort of mix these neutral colours in everything - classic oekaki beauty!
Could also double up as an ad for some exotic perfume or something!
~ ahh, it's just kickass to see your oekaki again!

*lays back and enjoys the show*

aaa~ im in love with this pairing <33

the colors in this are stuning-- i looove that purple-ish to pink tone >e<~~!!!

I've heard very good things about that series :3 I really love the expression on the taller guy... the lines are simple but I think you managed to convey a lot of emotion in them. Also, I have a thing for long hair icon

  • Pallid Jul 12, 2008, 11:43 pm

Ohh I haven't seen anything from Peacemaker in a long time!! I'm totally a fan of this pairing too! *_* Hehehh it looks like Souji is seducing him. XD; Nice job capturing their bishounen qualities. <3

  • OQM Jul 13, 2008, 4:43 pm

I'm not familiar with the series or the couple, but I really love the sort of sunset color palette you worked with, it definitely captures a romantic feeling.

  • Ami Jul 13, 2008, 6:11 pm

I love Souji from Kurogane!! I have only seen a few episodes, but I really like him ... he's so cute.
I don't know much about Toushizou either, but I think he's pretty cool. I'm not into shounen-ai/yaoi very much so this pair is quite unfamiliar to me!
I really like how you drew Souji!! So very cute, as usual ... the colours are very nice here. Almost like candy or the sun setting!
I like how you put the writing among the lines in the background. It's very nifty! Very cute!

the colors are so nice, i love how they go together :D the bg effect is cool too! makes me curious about the series, i'll have to check it out sometime! *3*

SOUJIXHIJIKATAAAAAAAAAAA <333 They are such an awesome pairing... D; I like the colours you used and Hijikata's facial expression.. homg *nosebleed* xD

  • Ruina Jul 14, 2008, 4:28 pm

LOVE IT. Absolutely.

I'm not obsessed with Okita!!!!

  • myvan Jul 18, 2008, 1:22 pm

I am still so surprised at how canon gay these two were in that series o__o! I'd never seen them portrayed like that before! But I absolutely loved *loved* grumpy Hijikata- just like you've drawn him here XD!

I love her eyelashes and the green flecks mixing with orange *_*

Holy.. O.O those eyes are simply AWESOME.
I love the reflexes VERY much ;___; So real.

stunning! id love for you to do a tutorial oneday! so inspiring !

Roy, could you please quit being such a good artist? XD just kidding.

This is wonderful as usual. The eye is nicely done, and I like how you matched your signature to the skin color for some reason. ^^;

wow, the colors in the eyes are so beautiful <3 everything looks so smooth and lovely. a very beautiful gaze.

Yes! Long live realism and bless the souls of the artists who can execute this style. You do wonders with eyes; I like the eyelash clumps.

Her eye is STUNNING. The depth of color really draws the eye (LOL) right to that focal point :3

man this is awesome, good to see you drawing again roytje!

Ah, that little clench of the bottom lid is intense!
I like how it's not completely smooth, but has little patterns and stuff, which adds elements of interest.

That eye is quite hypnotic.

>w< beautiful skin tone colors~~~~

  • Loika Jul 13, 2008, 2:41 am

Another amazing piece from you. <3

I tend to think that focussing on eyes is kind of dangerous since it has a high chance of turning out boring -- but I don't feel this at all with your oekaki. Rather, everything from the way you paint to the composition lends to a great, intense feeling.

  • Ami Jul 13, 2008, 6:02 pm

Waaa, pretty!
I'm just loving those eyelashes ... they looked like they were dipped in water and sugar (weird compliment ... but it was a compliment!!).
Awesome job on the skin below the eye!! I really like how you did the shadows there. All those shapes and stuff ... looks real nifty!!
I also like how you did the lips ... like they were dipped in water and sugar!!! icon

nice realism here, i enjoy how it has little touches of you in it ;D like the spots underneath the eye and the curl of dark blue/brown where the hair ends :D nice~!

ohhhh the eyelashes are beautifulll and the kissable shiney red lips~ And the details of the eyes are amazing.

  • Ruina Jul 14, 2008, 4:34 pm

I have a hard time waiting for your art ever since "Kikkert!". Amazing work as always!

  • Rammy Jul 16, 2008, 11:04 am

that shading is stunning!

I love the eye and all the colors inside it <333 No matter how much I try I cant get the eyebrow to make it look like its real; with all the hair and stuff. Commend you for that~

  • myvan Jul 18, 2008, 1:31 pm

Hehe, your signature looks like a snowflake falling on her cheek :)

.......
...*silence*

HOLYMOTHEROFGOOODDDDDDDDD!
You're amazing. The water droplets are fantastic, but I think my favorite part of the entire thing is the effort you put into the peel of the fruit, I can see the thin layer of liquid flowing over it....*g* Wow.

I want it~~~~~~~~. ;_;

(Also, what kind of fruit is it?)

Also, because the water is against the green background, it reminds me of... hand sanitizer. But, as they say, a woman is -- ah, that thought came at the wrong moment, but it was indeed prompted by the reds. Garnet, garnet, yeah? XD

Say whuuuuuuuut??

This is DIGITAL???

I don't even know what to say. You...may be a god.

icon Tekh... you make me want to lick this page. The waterdrops are my favorite. No the rind is. No most definitely the color choice. Argh! I'm overwhelmed. No other realism blows me away like this. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • Ami Jul 10, 2008, 8:51 pm

... ???
That's me being speechless.
... ???
There I go again.
Every time I look at it, it's like: Wooooah ... and I become speechless again.
So yummy ... What is it - grapefruit?? The detail on the yummy party (the "inside") is so juicy and so delicious looking, I can't believe it! I am just ... so totally amazed. The detail everywhere else is like ... guuuh ... you can even see the thin film of water over the other parts of the fruit. If this wasn't my Mac (which I so totally favour and love) I would've totally eaten my screen or something. [faves]

  • Pallid Jul 10, 2008, 11:05 pm

Wooow, that's beautiful. I love the rich colors, and great reference choice. *_* (I think the water drops are my favorite part.)

Dude, holy crap snacks! The effin' detail mate! The juicy, fleshiness of the fruit? Holy god! The depth! The texture of the peel and the fruit and the water! God in heaven this is magnificent! The-the everything! The highlights! The detail! The gorgeous! A+, yo, A+!

  • Adi Jul 10, 2008, 11:52 pm

O_O SHIT, THAT'S NOT A PHOTO?! HOLY COW icon

HOLY GUACAMOLE I thought that was a photo!! *A* wow...my mind is blown. that's CRAZY!! I wish I could do that! I've always WANTED to do that! LOL OTL;;; dang that is CRAZY. it looks so REAL, all the textures and colors and everything...so succulent and beautiful. amazing work!! cheeeeeez. yeah..don't know what else to say.

  • Loika Jul 11, 2008, 12:00 am

...

...

...

WOW.

WOW.

EXCUSE ME FOR A MOMENT AS I GET UP FROM THE FLOOR.

...

God damn this looks like a photo so much, but what I love about it is that when you look closer you can tell it's not a photo but a digital painting, and on oekaki no less. Guhhhhhhh. Amazing. <3

OMGG IM GONNA DIE,SERIOUS SKILLSSS-heartattack- it looks sooo juicy!!! omnom nom nom , its people like you that show the possibilities of oekaki! you rock!

  • Reyn Jul 11, 2008, 1:54 am

I...would swear that was a photo. *applauds your talent*

*falls out of chair*.

You know, I don't know what to say because everything looks amazing...the water looks real, the grapefruit (is it a grapefruit? The flesh is dark...) looks real. The shininess...everything o_o. Serious, I don't know what to say...it's amazing!

Oh come on!!! That's just crazy good!! You have me burning in a jealous rage icon and very soon I'll explod--

I mean I am really awed by how realistic this looks. The contrast as always, is on the dot. They way you have captured the texture of the orange/grapefruit flesh and water droplets are simply techniques beyond my comprehension. Even the gradient background looks damn good here icon

  • Winde Jul 11, 2008, 5:06 am

yuuuuuuuuummy <3 It looks like a blood orange! icon

wow that looks so real it took me a while to realise that it wasn't - really amazing

Your realism skills are really incredible, Vapor. I get thirsty when I look at this :)

That's just about the most amazing thing I've seen all week. SERIOUSLY. HOooooooly cows. I'm flabbergasted at how realistic it looks and the WATER and and all the details of the pulp O___O The sheen and the minutiae is just... PERFECT.

*___* oh wow! that's wonderful photorealism!

... WOW.

( O_O )

That's just like, woah! Amazing! It looks so real and delicious~

  • tekh Jul 11, 2008, 3:46 pm

thanks people, for the kind comments.
what fruit is it? well i tried finding the reference on flickr again, but no success. i hope it's a blood orange.

HOLY CRAP

O___O~~~ holy MOly~~~!!! >_< duude the patience you must have~~!!! hehehe

Damn, from the Art page thumbnail, I was like "that's a nice macro shot". Those droplets are so thick-like. You're ace with volume! And the colours are absolutely fresh.

  • OQM Jul 13, 2008, 4:47 pm

I had to do a double take when I saw this because I REALLY did think it was a photograph. Your photorealism here is astonishing, you can practically taste and smell the fruit! The fresh, vibrant look certainly makes this one irresistible.

wow, seriously, your realism is scarily imipressive. like.. wow. how do you even SEE all of those details? simply amazing! the transparency of the fruit and water are incredible!

NO F'ING WAY. THIS IS OEKAKI?!?!?! DDDD; AMAZEDx1000000000000!!! Its so realistic and... all the colours contrast so nicely! jfkdsl;ajkf;das Holy crap, I'm still in shock how realistic this looks!

  • Ruina Jul 14, 2008, 4:37 pm

It's so real I can almost smell it.

*faints*

  • Adi Jul 15, 2008, 3:25 am

I still come to stare at this everyday ^^;

  • Rammy Jul 16, 2008, 11:04 am

THIS LOOKED LIKE A FRICKEN PICTURE D8 your so good at this stuff ;;

I want your skilllss

This is the absolute WORST to look at when stuck in hot, torrid weather.

SO.. JUICY..
the water drops just look too refreshing

I'm sure I'm not the first to say so, and I don't know if you've done so before, but have you considered doing these in oil on a canvas? I know people who have similar stuff hanging on their walls but those are laser printed CG's. How good would that look in real oils..

Spoooooooky! :D

I like how you evoked hot and cold with the blue on the left and orange-red on the right. The trunk of the tree looks like a creature. icon icon

This looks amazing!
I love the color scheme specially

I love the ethereal glow around the tree, and the little points of light that may or may not be fireflies. Beautiful colors! It looks as though it might be an island or a shore line next to a very beautiful lake. Very pretty, and almost eerie in that David-Lynch-You-Can't-Quite-Make-Everything-Out sort of way.

Hmm wow, the colors are so subtle, yet they're not. The contrast between warm and cool colors makes this image very interesting to look at

  • Loika Jul 09, 2008, 6:49 pm

The way your colours interact with each other is so inspiring. <3 It's so subtle and yet I can really see a story panning out from this image.

Guh. <3333

  • Ami Jul 09, 2008, 8:11 pm

Good to see your drawing again!!
Wow, this is like a dream scene in the rain ... so beautifully surreal. It looks like a tree in a bush - like one of those moving/walking trees. I love it a lot! The mesh of colours and the gradual, subtle change into the brighter, more pink colours of the picture look really great. It's just one of those pictures that everyone has a different look on what the image is, but still makes everyone stare at it. I just can't stop looking at it, 'cause it's so cool! [faves].

this is beautiful work from you once again, ive always admired your work and will for a very long time! keep it up! lovwe the colours

ahhh, I'm mesmerized by the small glows...it's amazing how you achieve that effect! your work is beautiful and dreamy as always. I love how you used the deep rich colors; it really reminds me of wood fairies or something. Great to see from you again!

  • Adi Jul 10, 2008, 12:11 pm

the colours icon

  • Pallid Jul 10, 2008, 11:25 pm

Your art is so pretty. I can't make out the whole picture, but the shapes and colors are so soft and mysterious! It's definitely a dream-like setting, and I love the touch of warmth at the top. I agree that this looks like something that should be hung on a canvas. =]

Good to SEE you drawing again! *sighs dreamily* Your art always inspires flights of fancy <3333

ooo wonderful colors~~~!

  • OQM Jul 13, 2008, 4:49 pm

The mystery of this image is so intriguing! You put in just enough detail to make it feel like a landscape but left enough to the imagination that its seems like its really up to the individual to evaluate what is going on. I love that sort of imagery play :)

lovely, as always! i like the flickers of light all around it :)

  • Ruina Jul 14, 2008, 4:38 pm

Lovely and very mysterious!!! Makes me want to be in the painting!

  • Reyn Jul 07, 2008, 6:39 am

Woooooow!!! Pictures like these are always the prettiest to me...with the dark foreground and colorful background *_*

  • Ami Jul 07, 2008, 1:40 pm

Wow, pretty!!
I really like how you did the background ... all lines an' stuff, it's pretty cool!
The silhouettes are real nifty as well!! The picture just fits together. It makes me feel just so relaxed staring at it, as if it was an actual sunset. More intricate?? [is expecting a Mona Lisa]. I already like this a lot, what're you going to make next? [is excited].

another solids masterpeice! D; give me your skeels! very nice!!

  • tekh Jul 09, 2008, 6:16 am

i like the 'pixel' paint look. all those stroke lines in the water and sky are nice detail, and all those branches..

Wow! Dear! This is VERY awesome!
I just love the colors~ and the shades of the trees *___* You are really good at landscapes :D

Nice scene! Landscapes are great to draw, and this one is well done :)

  • OQM Jul 09, 2008, 11:04 am

The way the trees are in shadow and only allow glimpses out into the sunset is beautiful. The little wisps of black around the edges really give the feeling of line pine needles and leaves. :D

I love the colors along with everyone else, but I'm really impressed with the realism of the trees. The branches, the needles and everything? Very, very cool and very, very right. Pro, yo.

This is simple and beautiful.

<3

awww this reminds me of the adrondak mountains XD

beautiful landscape T__T <3 the black on the colors is so striking :D looks like something out of a memory <3

Haha, I like the skeleton children and the details on the book. This colorful series you're doing is neat! icon

God, I love that little thing sat at the front holding a shoe! This whole thing is so refreshingly odd and weird. I love it!

  • Reyn Jul 07, 2008, 6:44 am

Wow, I like how the coloring was done in this!

This is totally awesome! I love the little details. Your skullys are really cute. I love that the one is holding a shoe.

omg thids rockss i love the colours here and the details! :D great concept :)

Friggin' gorgeous as all nothin'! The colors!!! The pattern on the reader's costume, the design of the little skull guys, the beautiful book and the gorgeous vegetation in the cave! And the little carved totem/rock thing! And the shoe! and the circle of flowers around the glowing (what appears to be a) lotus on a pool. Friggin' masterful! I am in love!

  • Ami Jul 09, 2008, 7:46 pm

Waah! So cute!!! I love those little skeleton baby things. They are so adorable!! I would totally want to buy a plushie version of them (in fact, many of your creature-drawings would look totally awesome as plushies ... ).
I love how you use colours! They are always so bright and yummy. I could eat this picture for dessert (although, we have to keep showing your beautiful pictures so I'll leave them alone).
I love your designs, too ... such a cute and surreal-looking awesomeness! [faves]

  • Pallid Jul 10, 2008, 11:10 pm

This is sooo cute! You have really developed a unique and kickass style, I am sooo in love with those little skull guys. As always, I love the use of patterned designs throughout your work, and the color contrasts are very nice too. Oh, and I also like how this picture has a story going on, so cute! (lol@the shoe)
