Removal of Story Side Panel

August 16, 2008 @ 11:25 pm

Before this is permanently removed, I would like a confirmation from the writers and readers in the comm. I think the panel is more obtrusive than useful, but if members find it useful then I can re-add it to the port.

Speak now or forever hold your peace. Thanks.

I like the side panel, too.

i have never found it obtrusive or invasive in any way. i hardly notice it when i am reading apart from when i want to use it. if you want to ditch the sidebar, it would be nice to still have the functions it performs somewhere easy to get to. i have rather liked the easy access the toolbar provides.

Wh.. I find it really useful! ;_;

I can understand how the panel can be distracting although I personally find it useful (for the same reasons as other people).
Is it too bothersome to keep in, Ochi-sama? There's always other options like having one of those little bar things that follow you at the bottom of the screen no matter where you scroll (perhaps a minimized bar that maximizes on command?) ... that way, for longer chapters it doesn't matter how long it is, the panel will always be there for you (how cute). Separate windows may work as well ... dunno if any of those options are easily codeable or useful. Just some suggestions if you're looking!
But over all, I say keep the panel, so long as the hide/show option is still there. icon

I've actually never hid it while reading - it's never bothered me at all and like some people have said, when you're reading you can just hide it so would it really be necessary to remove it? It's really useful - at least for me anyway - and er icon that's my two cents XD
